10 May 2007 - Kieslowski's "Blanc" (1994)

You missed us, eh! :D

After a “golden week” pause, the magic wall in room 220 is pleased to continue the projection of Kieslowski’s Three Colours trilogy with the second movie: “Blanc” or “Biały” (white).
“White” illustrates the second theme of the trilogy: equality.
As with “Bleu” and “Rouge”, “White” contains numerous images that at first appear unconnected but are actually flashbacks or flash-forwards to the other films in the trilogy.
There is frequent use of its title colour, too. This transmits a white mood, alternately hopeful (clarity, innocence…) and cold (snow, stone, the pigeon droppings that rain on Karol early in the film…).
For the music, this time Preisner will capture us under a white embrace…
You’ll have to judge the rest on Thursday… Kieslowski has always a surprise for you…

See you there,

Joyce & Tomekx!
